You would have probably heard from the nutritionists that green tea a super-food. And I’d say it is close to being a super-food because of the powerful nutrients it contains. But have you ever thought about the side effects of green tea?

And it is great to have a daily dose once or twice a day.

But there are certain facts about green tea to be watchful about because green tea is a powerful beverage and anything that is powerful, can be dangerous too if the right care is not taken.

Some potential side effects of green tea

Firstly, green tea contains caffeine. For a matter of fact, any type of tea contains caffeine. Not as high as it is in coffee, but, still not of the negligible levels, though. So, the more green tea you consume, the more caffeine enters your body. So, consuming green tea within the limits of 2-3 cups a day is good but beyond your third cup, you are inviting a lot of caffeine.

Secondly, if your green tea is of low quality or contains dust grade then chances of higher fluoride are considerable. And Flouride is not good for your dental and bone strength.

Thirdly, if the green tea is from a brand that does not give you the top grade leaves or corrupts the purity to boost their margins then you are simply risking here. A lot of teabags brands use a lower grade of green tea leaves. In fact, most of them use dust grade and also add some other impurities inside the teabag. And this is only a risk for your health and not at all to be considered healthy.

Apart from this, if you have green tea at the wrong timing, with the wrong condiments, and of sub-standard quality then that will impact your health straight away.

Greenside effects can be so bad that you might observe insomnia, teeth ache, joint pains, etc.

How to avoid the side effects of green tea?

1. Choose the brand that believes in procuring tea from good farmers and maintain purity.

2. Fresher green tea leaves contain the highest nutrients.

3. Avoid tea bags and go for the loose leaf teas. You see what you drink.
